This
is a lovely farm setting, ideal for a family with children
who enjoy nature and want a relaxed holiday in a rural setting
in the heart of Catalunya. The farm has chickens, rabbits,
geese and the owners have some pet dogs. True to tradition,
the owner dries her own wild mushrooms, makes her own jams
and marmalades and she will even cook local dishes for you
on request, which you can take to your own apartment or
alternatively dine at the big farmhouse table. The farm
also has a very attractive circular swimming pool surrounded
by lawn and a nearby rockery herb garden. There are also
mountain bikes for hire (free for children). Our accomodation
is in a converted barn which consists of two apartments,
one on the ground floor and the second on the first floor.
They have been renobated to a good standard, each with its
own private entrance. There are also two independent bedrooms
next door which share a kitchen and living area; these are
usually let to Spanish families for the weekend but may
be available for larger groups who wish to stay here. To
experience more of a feel for this area, there are horse
drawn caravans available for hire nearby. There are numeros
churches near our Villa to rent in Spain, hermitages and
castels to visit locally and, for a true taste of Catalan
culture, do visit Barcelona - one of the mors exiting cities
in Europe, rich in architectrure and art, not to mention
fashionable cafés and boutiques!

| BAGES |
|
This
really is a superb location in which to spend a holiday.
Bages is geographically the centre of Catalunya and provides
magnificant views towards the sacred mountain of Montserrat.
Although relatively unknown and certainly unspoilt, the
area is quickly gaining in popularity due to the interest
in its wine production and cuisine. Situated just over an
hour's drive from Barcelona, one can easily visit the important
romanesque vestiges in the area, numerous palaeolithic and
neolithic deposits and the Sant Lorenç del Munt nature
reserve. Visitors may also be interested in the new observatory
and planetarium which is due to open at Castelltallat (4
km away) in Spring 2002.
Our accommodation is all on the first floor reached by a
flight of exterior steps. The apartment is bright, spacious
and comfortably furnished. The living/dining room and the
single bedroom lead out to the large terrace (15m x 5m)
which faces the mountain of Montserrat.
The shared pool area is most attractive and original local
stone is most definitely a feature. The charming owners
live next door and sometimes, usually at weekends, they
host visits for people who are on holiday in the area travelling
around by horse drawn caravans - a popular way to enjoy
the natural beauty of this region.

| RUPIT |
|
This
delightful masia (ancient Catalan farmhouse), the original
part of which dates back to the 17thC, is located in a totally
unspoilt area of Catalunya. Tucked away at the end of a
short track, free from noise and pollution, it is a comfortable,
spacious family home with wonderful views and a most inviting
swimming pool. The master bedroom, with full ensuite bathroom,
leads out onto a spacious, south-facing terrace overlooking
the swimming pool. The east-facing side of the property
has a built-in barbecue area, also very tempting for breakfast
when it is in full sun.
The house is situated in Pruit, a small hamlet belonging
to Rupit, one of the most ancient and well preserved villages
in Catalunya; a visit here is like turning the clocks back
several centuries. The city of Vic is 32 km away, with its
cathedral and Episcopal museum, and thrives on its leather
trade, food and textile industries. It is especially known
for its quality sausages such as Llongonissa (a kind of
salami). This area is very attractive to walkers, with several,
well indicated marked routes, as well as mountain bike riding.
There are two mountain bikes at the property for guests
use. The dam at Sau is nearby, with facilities for canoeing,
boat excursions and a nautical ski-school. The area also
borders La Garrotxa, with its ancient volcanic cones. Please
note that there are drops from the garden at the property
and young children would, therefore, need to be supervised.

PAU |

Situated
in the same porticoed square as our other property in Sta
Pau, these two properties belong to the same owner and have
been recently renovated and furnished to a very good standard.
Each is reached via two flights of internal stairs and whilst
CG013 faces the square and has a balcony, inside it is smaller
than CG014 which benefits from a larger kitchen and an extra
cloakroom. Both apartments are compact and cosy and make
an excellent choice for a summer or winter break - they
have full central heating and are within reach of some ski
resorts; even in winter the climate can be pleasant enought
to drive to the coast and walk along the beach.
The charming, discreet owner who occupies the lower part
of the property speaks English so is on hand to help if
information or advice is needed.
