"Ericeira is a lovely old fishing town which has kept a lot of its character and architecture whilst providing plenty of attractions for visitors; beautiful sandy beaches (some of which are a paradise for surfers), plenty of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy delicious fresh seafood, tennis, mini-golf and a new public swimming pool. The local museum has a model collection of traditional fishing boats and in July and August there are several festivals including colourful street processions. About 30 minutes away there is the baroque palace and Monastery of Mafra - don’t miss the beautiful library and lovely Sintra, so celebrated by Lord Byron, with its Royal Palaces and Toy Museum. This charming house is set in one of the streets in the higher part of Ericeira away from the busy centre but within walking distance of all amenities, supermarkets, restaurants, chemist, post office etc. The property is laid out on one floor. The entrance leads into the sitting room with a fireplace for cooler evenings, and from there glass doors open onto a conservatory where breakfast and lunch can be taken on cooler days without having the ‘indoor’ feeling. An archway leads from the sitting room into the dining room with lovely antique furniture including a beautiful antique sideboard made from a pair of old doors. The bedrooms are situated down a hallway and are very light, welcoming and comfortable. Garden furniture and a covered barbecue area are provide for pleasant alfresco meals.

"Sùnica is a Manor house with two delightful independent cottages in a separate wing. It is reached by 1 1/2 km of unmade road on the outskirts of the historic town of Estremoz, famous for it’s rose marble.The English-speaking owners live in the main house and are happy to explain the history of the region and give directions to all the places of interest nearby. They can also suggest which restaurants to try - the regional cuisine and wines are amongst the best to be found in Portugal. Situated in the grounds at the rear of the properties there is a superb swimming pool which is a huge, deep tank of pure fresh water, constantly replenished and neither filtered nor chemically treated. At night the water is used to irrigate the plants ensuring a riot of colour for most of the year and the pool is automatically topped up afterwards. The owners hardly use the pool themselves, so it will be for your sole use most of the time.
Situated in the relatively unknown Alentejo region, the nearby town of Estremoz is a short drive away and is dominated by its lovely old castle on top of the hill. Closeby, lies the large lake of Vigia which is excellent for water sports, swimming and fishing.
The interior of this cottage is just delightful and has been decorated and furnished in a classic style with many antiques and local artefacts. The bedroom is especially lovely with a beautiful antique bed and furniture and has a small sitting/dressing area. Three steps lead down from the living/dining area to the rustic but well equipped kitchen which features a splendid sink and work top area made from local marble. From here a door opens onto a terrace and the garden; this adjoins the owner’s terrace at right angles and thus provides a good degree of privacy. The whole area is surrounded by walnut and plum trees.

"This glorious country villa is set on a south-facing hillside and enjoys spectacular 180° views over unspoilt countryside down to the sea. It is in a particularly peaceful and private location and is spacious, as well as extremely well-furnished and equipped. The house was built with the principal rooms on the first floor to take full advantage of the marvellous views. From the circular paved entrance hall in the tower, a circular staircase leads to the first floor where the large drawing room has two pairs of glass sliding doors which open onto the covered and open terrace areas. The drawing room also has a wood-burning stove, a card table at the far end, hand-made Portuguese rugs and a large sofa with easy chairs. The dining room has a marble sideboard and a round table and also has sliding doors to the terrace. The large and well-fitted kitchen has marble topped pine units and a breakfast area. The circular staircase then leads up to the second floor tower room which serves as a study/occasional bedroom with two sofa-beds and a chest of drawers. The remaining bedrooms are located on the ground floor and are all south-facing with sliding glass doors leading to the covered terrace. Off the passage leading to the bedrooms is a kitchenette with a small sink and electric kettle, ideal for early morning tea! The garden has been professionally landscaped and is automatically irrigated. In front of the villa is a well-kept lawn, terrace and flower beds with masses of shrubs. Steps lead down to the large pool which has concealed overhead lighting and a brick built-in barbecue with small kitchenette plus a small changing room. There is a large paved area around the pool and two shaded areas.
