We
are thrilled to be able to offer this superb studio apartment
in the very heart of the fashionable seaside resort of Deauville,
famous for its casino, racecourse, promenade and array of
chic shops, cafés and restaurants. As the apartment
is situated a mere 200m from the beach, swimming pools and
tennis courts, this is a perfect location for those wishing
to enjoy all the attractions this stylish resort has to
offer. It is an equally good choice for an out of season
break, and may well appeal to those who prefer to leave
the car behind, the railway station being a five minute
taxi ride away.
The apartment itself, which is situated on the raised ground
floor of a traditional belle époque building
has recently been renovated and redecorated with immense
charm by its owner, an interior designer. Although the kitchen
and bathroom are compact, they are very well equipped. The
light and airy dual aspect main room is very spacious and
is extremely comfortably furnished with good quality antiques
and curios, together with more modern touches. Opposite
the apartment entrance, a gate leads you into an enclosed
private town garden laid to lawn, which is for your exclusive
use. Here, the owner has thoughtfully provided garden furniture
and a barbecue for alfresco dining.

| Country
House |
|
Part
of the old country house belonging to the Château
de Vicques, this property has now been restored to offer
simple, old fashioned and pleasant holiday accommodation
with plenty of character. The nine acres of surrounding
parkland include many out buildings, a Renaissance chapel
and now deserted, but delightful, old château. The
property also includes fishing rights on the river Dives
which borders the grounds (except in the closed season,
please inquire for further details). Due to the proximity
of water, young children will require supervision. This
is very attractive spot for families or a larger group wishing
to enjoy French style in a house that is not 'fragile',
and take advantage of the level of privacy offered within
the extensive grounds.
If not quite fully restored to its former glory, the interior
is spacious and a fun place for a holiday. The ground floor
is furnished in a traditional style, in and would certainly
appeal to those who want a taste of French country life
of a bygone era. The kitchen is fully equipped for holiday
cooking. The owner has just completed considerable renovation
and redecoration of most of the first and second floor accommodation,
and the comfortably furnished bedrooms enjoy views over
the grounds and the surrounding countryside. The countryside
hereabouts is rural farmland, but Falaise, the birth place
of William the Conqueror is within very easy reach, and
would make an interesting destination for a day trip. Not
to be missed are the colourful local markets, where you
can buy a wide range of delicious Norman farm produce, from
home made cider to cheese!

| Ancient
Water Mill |
|

ancient water mill has been restored to offer simple holiday
accommodation. The ground floor is open-plan combining a
modern kitchen with a simply furnished, comfortable sitting
and dining area with a large fireplace, and flagstone floors.
Steep wooden stairs lead to the first floor where the three
bedrooms have charming views over the garden and river valley.
The cellar houses the washing machine and tumble dryer.
The mill stream runs through the garden (young children
will need supervision). For those who love tranquillity
and the calming sound, this is the perfect hideaway. Fishing
is possible in the nearby river Dathée and walking/cycling
in the forest of St Sever.
Ground floor: dining/sitting area with open fireplace and
kitchen area (with microwave). 1st floor: 3 bedrooms: 2
doubles, 1 with 2 singles; bathroom/WC. Small tumble dryer.

| Country
House |
|
This
south-facing, substantial country house is set in extensive
grounds with lovely views across open countryside. It has
been carefully renovated to provide a good degree of comfort
and convenience, whilst retaining character and containing
some lovely old French furniture. Set in the heart of the
country, the grounds have several different grassed areas
and are ideal for eating out, childrens games or boules
tournaments. There are some magnificent trees and the field
at the back is home to the owners horse and goat.
The helpful English owners move into a small converted barn
within the grounds, when the property is let. They have
their own area of garden, but the driveway and car parking
area are shared.
The large town of St Lô (10 km) offers all facilities
and one of the French National Studs. The D-Day beaches
and the Bayeux tapestry are obvious attractions but the
wealth of local abbeys and châteaux should also be
visited. Old-fashioned seaside resorts, colourful markets,
renowned local produce (cider, cheese, Calvados), marked
foot and cycle paths, local fishing (permit necessary) and
18-hole golf near Bayeux make this an ideal situation for
all age groups.

| Farmhouse |
|
This
half-timbered farmhouse is in an elevated position with
extensive views over the surrounding hills and woodlands.
It has been renovated by its English owner. There are all
modern conveniences but the conversion has retained the
special features and charm of the original building. The
living/dining room is spacious and well furnished, and has
an open fireplace. The bedrooms are comfortable and attractively
decorated.
The Pays de Bray is an area of open countryside and wooded
farmland. Forges-les-Eaux, a spa town with a range of leisure
amenities, and Neufchâtel-en-Bray are nearby. There
are two vast forests nearby: Eawy and Lyons. Rouen, under
an hours drive away, is famous for its cathedral,
its museums and the pretty half-timbered buildings.
Ground floor: sitting/dining room with TV; kitchen; 2 bedrooms
with large doubles (one with ensuite bathroom); separate
shower room; separate WC.
